1. History
After the establishment of Tunghai University in the 44th year of the Republic of China, the department of physical education was established independently in the 45th year of the Republic of China. In line with the implementation of the new University Law, an independent department of physical education has been set up to handle sports-related business across the school.
In accordance with Article 11, Paragraph 5 of the University Law and Article 11, Paragraph 5 of the University's Organizational Regulations, our school has set up a department of physical education to manage the planning and promotion of physical education, the operation of sports competitions, and the management of sports venues and equipment. The department of physical education has one director, and three committees of course teaching, competition activities and venue equipment to assist the implementation of room affairs.
Curriculum Teaching Committee: In charge of the planning and promotion of the school's physical education business, as well as the planning, maintenance and management of teaching equipment.
Competition Activities Committee: In charge of the planning, training and counseling of various competition activities of the school staff and students.
Venue Equipment Committee: In charge of the planning, maintenance, purchase and management of the school's sports venue equipment.

2. Course teaching
Physical education is an important education policy of the school. The physical education curriculum is planned to be compulsory for four years from the founding of the school. In line with the implementation of the new university law, the re-planning of new students entering after the 87th year of the Republic of China has been revised as a compulsory course for the first and second grades, and elective course for the third- and fourth-year students. First and second grades are required to be taught in groups of interest options. The courses offered include basketball, volleyball, badminton, tennis, softball, swimming, table tennis, dance, golf, adaptive sports, bowling, walking, and weight control. fitness, etc. In the year 100 of the Republic of China, the physical education curriculum improvement plan was carried out, and the physical education curriculum was included in the graduation threshold rules. Freshmen enrolled in the daytime undergraduate program from the 101 academic years must pass the physical education general test and physical fitness (cardiopulmonary fitness) test, Those who fail must implement self-study. In addition to the teaching of skills, the compulsory teaching content of grades 1 and 2 also arranges courses such as sports and health, sports safety, water safety, knowledge of sports and sports, and sports nutrition, so that every student must have general knowledge and appropriate training. .
3. Competition activities
The school currently has 14 sports teams including basketball, volleyball, tennis, badminton, billiards, football, swimming, softball, track and field, competitive cheerleading, etc. There are 14 sports teams, including men and women, who represent the school in college competitions every year. More than twice a week of training, in accordance with the winter and summer, arrange training camps, and formulate the coaching methods for the Tunghai University student sports team. The teaching staff also have sports clubs such as basketball, badminton, tennis and table tennis, and they also represent the school in tertiary staff competitions. On-campus activities, the annual sports conference and the freshman cup and inter-departmental cup ball competitions are held every year, and the Tunghai Cup faculty competition is held during the mid-term and final exams to enhance the vitality of the campus through various activities.
4. Venue equipment
The school sports venues are very complete, including track and field fields, two softball fields, 13 basketball courts, 11 volleyball courts, 12 tennis courts, swimming pools, rock climbing courts, table tennis rooms, weight training rooms and a comprehensive gymnasium, for physical education and school-wide activities, and also for social and community use.
